Prorated Rent Calculator
The court system of California requires "calculated daily rent" to be performed on a 30-day schedule regardless of the current month's actual day count.
Instructions
Select Move Type:
From the first drop-down menu, choose whether the rent is being prorated for “Moving In” or “Moving Out.”
- Moving In: The prorated rent will be calculated based on the days remaining in the month.
- Moving Out: The prorated rent will be calculated based on the total days the tenant has occupied the property.
Enter the Total Monthly Rent:
Input the total rent amount agreed upon for the rental property. This is the rent for the entire month.
Days in the Month:
This field is automatically set to 30 days in accordance with California courts. The court system mandates that prorated rent calculations be based on a 30-day month, regardless of the actual number of days in the calendar month.
Select the Move-In/Move-Out Day:
From the drop-down menu, choose the specific day of the month when the tenant is moving in or moving out.
- If the tenant is moving in or out on the 30th or 31st, the result will be the same because the daily rent is calculated based on 30 days.
Calculate the Prorated Rent:
Click the Calculate button to see the prorated rent amount due based on the selected move type.
